With luck

With luck, I didn't blow out the car's transmission after getting stuck about 20 feet out of the garage.

Extracting myself from the driver's seat and out the passenger door wasn't much fun, and getting back in after shoveling what I could from under the front driver's wheel was only marginally easier. The good news is that the car is now back in the garage instead of blocking the way of doing anything to make getting out possible.

I'm here until Plow Guy can get in with his backhoe and move at least some of the ever-growing Plow Mountain.

This is officially Not Fun. It's not dire, either, and for that I'm thankful. But it is a problem, and one I don't have the immediate resources to solve.

You're the second person I know that needs a winch solidly anchored in their garage. It'd be just the thing for extracting you from near-by problems like this one.

I think this kind of thing is why lots of people who live out in the middle of nowhere in snow country own their own plow, and a 4wd vehicle to mount it on. Back it into the garage before the storm, close the door, and come out plowing in the morning!

Glad you managed it, but what a job!

I think this winter is officially Not Fun for a whole lot of people in a lot of locations. (And if I hear one single denier say something about how this shows there's no global warming, I'm going to plant him or her head first in several feet of snow!)
