One of *those* days

I burned the toast.

The toast made from the last two slices of bread in the loaf.

Onward.

Well, that's *another* fine toast-burning story to add to your collection.

Actually... I've found that "But of _course_ the toast will burn (or, more bluntly & honestly, [person] will burn the toast) when it's the last two slices of bread in the house" is certain to happen only when [person] has a profound Need for toast, Right Now. *sigh* (Otherwise, it only sometimes happens. And, of c., this applies to many things other than toast.)

You Fiend -- oh, wait, you're the victim here.

Condolences on your missing butter platform.

Many years ago, when I was my brother's guardian and we were living very tightly, we wouldn't have any money left a few days before my check. We'd have popcorn, which I now know is actually a good meal, but then it was cheap and filling. One night, we popped the last popcorn and I opened the wrong thing on the top of the salt container, and poured salt over the popcorn. My brother still berates me about it.

But we had dinner the next day; you'll probably have toast tomorrow.
