Frog on Rock
Guitar work I could listen to all night. And I just might.

Sixteen Tons

Thanksgiving Eve (with a few lyric tweaks near the start) Yes, given the week, I ought to have embedded this instead of just linking to it, but, but....his take on train songs was just too compelling.

I've only listened to enough of the rest to know what's going to be playing as I continue working tonight:

Swinging Little Guitar Man

All Along The Watchtower

Slow Down

Bad News

The Most Unoriginal Sin

Nuage/Guitar Man/Somewhere Tonight

Baltimore Oriole

All Night Long

Guitar Workshop (part 1)

Guitar Workshop (part 2)

And more...

You probably didn't, you probably just didn't realise it was him. After I saw Guillory live in 1990 I discovered that almost all the guitar work I really loved in Al Stewart was Guillory. He has played with everyone, and done session work with them. He's great. Most people play guitar as an accompaniment to voice. Guillory plays it as an actual instrument. I've heard him play Bach lute suites on it... in a concert in which he also played "All Along the Watchtower".

We caught him in a small club in Cambridge ( no, the other Cambridge, UK) around '92-ish. I thought he was fantastic and bought his CD. Wasn't pleased to find he'd died much too young.
