Life in the future at 36,000 feet

I can't say air travel is all that pleasant, but a free wifi pass on a 4.5 hour flight certainly helps. Now if my battery would only last that long.

Much to my surprise, there's room to open up my 17-inch MacBook Pro in the cattle section of a 757.

Destination: Reno, Nevada for a Renovation committee meeting. It's my first visit to Reno, made possible thanks to NWA waiving the $150 change fee on the ConQuesT flight I didn't take in May due to my pesky gallbladder since removed. Thanks to that and a great fare out of JFK, this flight only cost an additional $29.99 out of pocket. Nice.

Are you arriving in town tonight? Gimme a call in the morning.

Yes; in Thursday night. Ben and I enjoyed a late-night dinner at the Purple Parrot with Webmaster Rick, then wandered through the casino admiring all of the penny slots. Stargate SG-1! Wizard of Oz! Et cetera.

I've programmed your new number into my cell phone. I'll do my best to remember to call in the morning. If you haven't heard from me by 10 or so, feel free to call. I expect to be around (and working on PROmote stuff) until after lunch, when Rick and I hope to head up to Tahoe.

I truly hope you enjoy our beautiful area, even if most of your visit is spent indoors checking out event spaces. I'm sorry I won't get to meet you. Have a wonderful time!

Thank you. I'm already missing meeting you! I've only seen Reno in the dark so far, but I'm quite favorably impressed already.

1) Add fat back into the diet with some caution, depending on how your SO's body reacts. Mine did quite well on that front.

2) Pay attention to any post-surgical weight restrictions. I spent two months being surprised at how little eight pounds is. Adding up the food weights when grocery shopping isn't sufficient, especially if one is buying applesauce and such in glass jars. Packaging weighs, too.

3) I was also surprised by how long it took to rebuild stamina. I hope your SO's personality is better suited to convalescence than I am. Then again, it wasn't all that long, really.
