The snow is beautiful...

...when seen from indoors. That's exactly where I'm seeing it today, thanks to debgeisler and benveniste's delicious hospitality.

All of last week, Accuweather was consistently more alarmist than the National Weather Service was, predicting higher total accumulations and more dramatic winds accompanying all that snow. After early predictions of 15.6" in Middleton, Accuweather dropped the Middleton accumulations first to 8" and then down to something in the 5-6" range for the weekend's total accumulation.

That left me more than a little surprised to wake up to pretty much 13" this morning. We're in the middle of a sunny lull right now, with another inch or two snow predicted for later today.

I heard the wind a-blowin' last night, but Deb & Mike's deck is in a protected spot. Flake-perfect snow sculptures top the railings, posts, tables, benches, and chairs as well as the smoker and grill.

Me, I'm happy to be in a protected spot, too.

I'm just across the state line, but we got only an inch or so last night.

Another six inches here in Sudbury last night. So something like ten with the earlier storm. But the snowblower still works, so it wasn't that bad.

I found your gift in my mailbox yesterday, thank you so much. the little frog is sitting on my computer ready to croak at me, and the postcards are pretty nifty too.

I'm glad you found and enjoyed the gift. I figured you'd like the art on the postcards!

The roads haven't been too bad (at least, not the major ones). I think Framingham got about 6" of snow yesterday and overnight. Ditto Northboro. Winds weren't as bad as predicted. Getting down Mark and Priscilla's driveway was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy after that. It is a very pretty snow - almost perfect powder for the skiers. Have the very long drive back to Pittsburgh tomorrow.
