The Twins and Their Toys

I wrote a super-brief note about how well last night's presentation went at the Kimball House Museum, promising Film at 11, for values of "11" equaling "Copious Free Time." Then I changed my mind, cutting and pasting then lightly editing the following info from email I just sent to my sister, sister-in-law, and nieces and another to batwrangler whose Twinzy Toy photos were key in helping Heritage Battle Creek find me.

Apologies for whichever parts are obscure or not adequately explained. Take whatever you know about me being short of time and turn it up to 23. This year is still totally fired, but I'm profoundly thankful there are astonishing good things happening, too. The last couple of days have been jam-packed with them.

Yesterday's presentation "The Twins and Their Toys" was great fun and simply splendid. My niece Anne came up from Georgia for it. She was a huge help setting up the toy display. I'm so glad she was there, both for the help and company and also for the sheer joy of having another generation present. During the presentation, Annie read excerpts she chose from the Twins diaries in Susie's The Little Colonel Good Times Books. Then she passed some of the toys around the audience while I was talking about them.

I put together 60 slides in a Powerpoint presentation, pulling the material from many different sources that have been steadily accumulating on my computer.

James Williamson videotaped the presentation and gave me a DVD of it this morning. I'm *very* pleased with how it came out.

There were about two dozen people at the presentation. Anne brought Daddy down and gave him a ride back home when the program was done. Daddy's on the video in a couple of short places, and at the end Daddy, Anne, and I did a very "Antiques Roadshow Feedback Booth"-style video clip. Fun!

A stringer from the Battle Creek Enquirer & News was there, and a reported from The Battle Creek Shopper, too. Last week's Shopper had a nice article about the upcoming presentation along with my picture, and a picture of the Twinzy Toy Autograph Hound! Daddy picked up extra copies for me.

There are plans afoot to revive Twinzy Toys. Ken Faris mentioned the plans briefly last night, and we also filmed a brief video clip about the idea. *Very exciting!*

I ended up staying in Battle Creek an extra day due to the tornado watches between here and Chicago, the widespread thunderstorms, and the possibility of high winds and large hail in Chicago. I finished the PROmote project that had to be done by tomorrow a few minutes ago and will be heading back to Daddy's soon. (Now that Anne and her mobile hotspot are gone, I'm doing my usual trick of working at Culvers.)
