A momentous trip in the Cardis

I'm off to Westboro Toyota with the Cardis. If the odds have their way, it will be my last trip in the Cardis and it will be totaled out sometime in the coming week or so.

Or the Cardis may emerge victorious in a few weeks and bring me back to Toad Woods sporting a shiny new rear end. On the Cardis, that is. My personal rear end will still have all but 60 years wear on it.

I'm FINE. The Cardis was rear-ended last Tuesday on Hwy 20 in Sturbridge. Damages so far are just over $2,500. If the body shop finds more (and they expect to), they'll have to be really cheap damages for the Cardis to avoid being totaled. Something about a car that's gone 193,000 miles in 12 years and wasn't all that expensive in the first place....

Film at 11, I hope. I've been meaning to write it up for the last week, but life and sleep kept happening, and I kept thinking I'd know more the next day...which has been true. But this? This I have to mark with a post.

C'mon, Cardis. Let's go find out what happens next.

Yikes! I'm rooting for the Cardis, marvel that it is, but may the outcome be the one that's best for and most desired by the human member of the team.

Thanks. I'm in the excellent position of being happy with either outcome. If the Cardis gets to come back home, I'll be happy it has its chance to pass the 200K mark, and downright thrilled to not add car payments to my ongoing financial juggling act just yet.

And if it's totaled, I'll be happy to have the insurance payment to put toward my next car, and also happy to be free of the ever-present question of when to replace the Cardis vs. how much money to pay to keep it going.

That's how it looks right now, anyway. Fingers crossed!

Oh no! Glad you're okay, but I know how you love your Cardis.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with driving a "totalled" vehicle, btw. I've had at least 3 vehicles "totalled," accepted a settlement from the insurance company somewhere between total replacement cost and fix-it cost, and continued to drive the vehicle for more years. If it's fixable, you might find this to be a worthwhile option. The rules may be different in Massachusetts, but be sure to ask your insurance company about the possibilities.

Sorry to hear about the damage to the Cardis, but very happy to hear about lack of same to you.

Glad you're ok and I hope that the Cardis is scheduled for successful surgery.

Thank you for putting "FINE" in large bold type! So glad that your personal rear end wasn't damaged, but sorry to hear about the Cardis. I hope the results from its visit to the shop were better than expected...

Thanks. I should know more early next week.
